Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

    NFL Network ‏@nflnetwork 5m
RT @RapSheet: #49ers WR Michael Crabtree suffered a torn Achilles yesterday, source says. Brutal. Could return this year
Looks like Boldin will be playing a much bigger part than I thought this year.

Thanks. Wow, that does suck.. Sorry for Crabtree, hope he recovers soon.

However, it dings SF's SB chances a little and I'm okay with that.

the curse of the Achilles tear has spread. Hopefully it has moved on from Baltimore into SF for good.

    We suffered that last year.

Dang. I was gonna draft Crabtree this year in fantasy...

Let's see if the 49ers can handle injury like the Ravens did last year.

    So niners have

    VD
    A.J. Jenkins
    Boldin
    Mario Manningham
    Quiton Patton and Vance MacDonald

VD, Manningham and Boldin are the proven commodities and it looks like A.J. Jenkins really needs to prove his worth.

I wonder how it will feel to go into the HOF as one of the all time best at your position, and also be upstaged by the best going in with you.... sweet but bittersweet at the same time?

Looks like the Giants are going to have off-season issues with both Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks...can't pay everyone I guess, but keeping two high-priced receivers is not going to be easy.

Edit: Seems like the Giants are in the process of re-signing Ramses Barden, so that would make sense if Nicks and/or Cruz hold out.

Barden has been terrible. He has around 30 catches in 4 seasons combined. If that's the Giants plan B they better get things resolved with Nicks and Cruz.

He had 1 really good game last year.

It is kind of hard to get on the field when you're playing behind two of the best receivers in the NFL. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but Barden was a small school project to begin with and ended up behind a 1st rounder (Nicks) and a UDFA who came out of nowhere to put up back to back 1000+ yard seasons.
