The most blatant and indefensible hypocrisy I have ever seen

When Joe Flacco signed his extension it was all about him regressing back to his regular season self. His postseason dominance was brushed off and we were nationally mocked for re-signing him because there was no way he could carry his playoff performance over for a full season.

With Anquan Boldin? Nope, it's all about his playoff run. All we hear is how the Ravens don't win the Super Bowl without him and how it would be a disgrace for us to let go of a playoff hero. Do we hear about his so-so regular season production, or how everyone thought he was declining? Nope. People are assuming that the Boldin we saw in the playoffs is the REAL Anquan Boldin.

Sorry everyone, can't have it both ways.

Sure it's defensible. It's logical too. Anquan Boldin proved himself to be a star in Arizona, before he ever came to the Ravens. His numbers were down, across the board, every year he's been here. It's a safe assumption that something about the Ravens is holding him back from his true potential, that his TALENT outweighs his current numbers. And that whatever it was that held him back didn't do so this postseason. If you're a Ravens fan, you believe it was Cam Cameron, or not playing from behind as often as he was in Arizona. If you're any other fan, you probably believe it was Joe Flacco's inconsistency, that Flacco got hot at the right time and that Boldin was one of the benefactors.

well let's see. A. anquan is a wideout. if the quarterback doesn't play well, he can't play well. B. the quarterback will always garner the scrutiny over other players. C. anquan was a star wideout before he ever got to the ravens, especially since he had kurt warner to throw to him and larry fitzgerald as his other half so to those people he's 'already proven himself'.

not saying it's right or wrong but the original post seems like kind of a weird rant and much ado about nothing. i've seen nothing but joe love since the playoffs and super bowl win and the last couple days most of the posters here seem pretty okay with losing #81 if it saves us cap or we just can't come to an agreement.

If his play depends so much on outside factors, then he isn't such an important player in the first place. Which once agains supports my point. It is not defensible or logical.

Q had a pretty average season really. Watch the film of passes bouncing off his hands as evidence to how he effects joe just as much. Im grateful and elated that Q raised his play in the playoffs but i wont ignore his regular season. I think his value is squarely inbetween those two. He can take over, but he doesnt consistently take over games or get even get separation.he may be one of the great wrs with somebody on them, but thats not conducive to a efficient offensive target, imo. Id agree with the OP to an extent but Qs struggles seemed more early while Flaccos biggest gaffe may have happened in week 15 (pick 6). There was ddfinitely more questions in the media about flacco than Q. Internally i doubt thats the same though.

Once Cameron was fired, Caldwell put Boldin in the slot where he is an absolute beast. So yea, once the playoffs came around and Boldin was used properly, we did see the real Boldin.

It's always "next man up" around here. Boldin was "next man up" when we let Mason walk. Who's "next man up" should we lose Boldin? That's a question that cannot be answered. He'd be a significant loss. Keep him in the slot where he belongs and watch him truck over people.

Its absolutely amazing how inept Cam Cameron was. Without him over the last 5 years, we may have won 3 super bowls. I always wondered why they traded for Boldin in the first place, since we had Cam Cameron running the offense. It was made abundantly clear this year that Cameron was the cylinder that wasn't firing. I just can't believe it took the Raven's brass so long to realize that he was the problem.

The entire offense changed when the OC changed. That outside factor had a effect on all of them.
