He's better in coverage, but the scouting reports I read say he's merely above average as a cover safety, and certainly not anything special. Over his seven seasons, his INT totals are 3-3-2-2-1-0-0.

    Help me understand this one.
No disrespect or anything, but I think you're miss evaluating Huff. Huff isn't a strong safety, he's a center fielder, and can play corner back at a pretty decent level. In fact, because of injuries, that's where he played all last year, and he did a pretty good job. So at FS, he's obviously the perfect replacement for Ed Reed. Bernard Pollard's replacement will either be Christian Thompson, Ihedigbo, or someone in the draft.

Well I heard reports that Oher is staying at RT according to Rappaport a few weeks back. The Ravens also seem to be really interested in DJ Fluker, maybe they view him as an elite prospect at guard (which is what Cosell thinks).

    KO-Fluker-Gino-Yanda-Oher.

I know he's a FS. I wasn't saying he's an exact replacement for Pollard. I'm just saying that it's a bit confusing if they did indeed cut Pollard for his coverage liabilities only to bring in another safety who has 11 career INTs in 107 stars. I realize that INTs aren't a very good measure for coverage abilities, but if his ball skills are so good, why so low a INT total?

I know we've been spoiled by watching arguably the best ballhawk of all-time, but you would think Huff could have wiggled a 4-5 INT season out once in his seven year career, right?

That would be very interesting. Fluker's problem is he has extremely slow and heavy feet, but once he gets his hands on a defender with his power it's all over. Playing at guard, especially if we go back to more power/man-blocking, could make him a really interesting fit.

Still not too sure I like moving KO away from LG when that looks to be by far his best position, but if the coaching staff feels he can play LT at a high level then they should go with it.

I'm still on the Barrett Jones train though. If they move KO to LT, they could play Jones inside at LG and he'd be a great fit, and would not require a 1st rounder, since by all accounts (much to my dismay) Jones is viewed as a 2nd or even 3rd round prospect by the NFL.

I know this is an opinion Based bored, but at times the way you talk its as if you get paid to Scout. In what Universe if Michael Huff a perfect replacement for Ed Reed? from the Raider's games I've watched Huff is a glorified 2nd string safety. For a perfect replacement for Ed Reed, he sure doesn't get a ton of Picks, he is probably one of the more inconsistent players in the league.

Truth is, if we sign Michael Huff, it won't be to be a first day starter. If that is the case, we are downgrading big time. I see him playing the Role Ihedigbo played last season. A safety that can come in every now and then and contribute. He will definitely get a chance to compete for a starting Job, he might very well get it, if he does i honestly think that we are in trouble, because if get the inconsistent Michael Huff, that the Raider's got most of his time in Oakland, we are in trouble. If he comes in and plays up to his potential(mind you he's 30, he isn't the same 23 year old kid that could run a 4.3), we will have a very solid player, but please don't expect the guy to come in and be a huge impact player. Don't do that.

Denver Post reports Ravens "negotiating" with Dumervil. Whatever that means.

Strong recommendation from current Ravens assistant Wink Martindale who coached Dumervil in his 17 sack season.

I said replacement at free safety FFS, when did I ever say that he is even close to Ed Reed?

And you are entitled to your opinion just like I am, but he is a lot better than 2nd string material.

And listen buddy, I'm no NFL scout, I just watch games that I record every year, and I just go with what I see and not what the general perception is. I'm not the only guy on this board that talks like this, this is a board for opinions, why don't you call guys like bmorecareful, wickedsolo, bigplayreceiver, and others, who say pretty much the same things about players they like?

Man if we can somehow Pull off Dumervil, that IMO would be the move of the off-season. The guy still has a lot left in the tank, and make no mistake about it, he is a top 5 pass Rusher in this league. He is outshined a little in Denver by Von Miller, but this guy can ball. He is strong against the Run, and he is a pass Rush specialist. It would improve our defence Greatly.

I like Barret Jones too, but at the end of the day, we're not making the picks. The Ravens probably REALLY like Fluker's arm length, and the fact that he does play like a Raven, and also as we all know, he's from Alabama lol.
