You can't re do rookie deals early, they have to play out, hence the 30 odd players every year being on cheap rookie deals. That's the whole point of the wage scale. More money for vets.

No one knows what our cap situation will be like in three years, but I wouldn't be surprised if they could handle it

You mean how many guys we have committed under the cap for 2016?

Probably too far out to really speculate. The only guys signed that long are going to be guys like Rice and maybe the high draft picks in last couple years.

exactly I see there cap numbers coming off the books at almost 30 mil combined. So on our roster in three years time are going to commands huge contracts to fill that void? That's smiths rookie class and KOs rookie class. Right now today the only possible huge contracts we have on our roster is. Torrey and KO. S we could easily fit flaccos cap in unless we sign a big name free agent or two

No, I mean the cap. Total cap. This year it's 123 ish. 2014 it might be 126 ish etc...

That's only going to be pure speculation. Even next year's cap, we have no idea. There's been RUMORS the cap will likely raise significantly in 2015, but they thought the cap was going to raise in 2014 too, and recently that's been changed to "flat cap"

And again, I don't see anyone other than maybe Torrey if he explodes in the new offense and KO that would command big money's. the rest are very good players that will get decent affordable deal, not top 5 money at ther positions.

And by then, Suggs and ngatas contracts are up, if they come back it shouldn't be at high value due to age, rices cap hit also isn't that high. So I see a scenario where there's a possibly we don't NEED to restructure like the steelers do, but we still probably will, extending the deal adding maybe three years onto the final three so he does retire here.

I'm very well aware you can't redo rookie contracts. Case in point. Let's say our first rounder this year plays lights out until 2017, that's when his rookie contract ends. He's now in line for a huge payday. So my point is that we may have several players in that situation. So the ravens would have to proactively and restructure/extend Joe's contract to free up cap space for the rookies who are about to get paid.

I get you point, but why re do 2016s contract and push more money into future years for a deal in 2017, why. Not eat all 2016s when you can and then re do it in 2017 if you need to? You shouldn't re do a deal in anticipation for a future one, re do it when a deal needs done if you have too.
