Re: Flacco deal has apparently been finalized!

If 2016 comes around and Flacco is the only Raven with a big contract then the team will be....not very good at all.

I see what you're saying but with this front office we have that's an unlikely possibility. I see some of our draft picks paying big dividends hence the need to pay out the big money to retain them.

Oh I totally agree with ya. We got a great FO and they will put the players in a position to succeed. In one way or another we should be continually bumping up against the cap. Shows that we got good players.

Based on @albertbreer 's tweets of this AM, it appears that Flacco's Cap numbers will be -

    2013: $6.8M
    2014: $14.8M
    2015: $14.55M
    2016: $28.75M
    2017: $31.15M
    2018: $24.75M

Breer: Of the $52M only $30M is fully guaranteed.

Based on reports so far, it's $18.2M. That could be restructured, but that would raise the 2017 and 2018 Cap number substantially. So, without an extension, to spread it out further, a simple restructure won't work very well and only delay (and make worse) the pain until 2017.

As a practical matter, though, it's all guaranteed because there's no way they're going to release him after year one and take on over $23M in dead money.

Wow.When you stack the numbers like this, it really does appear to be a 3 year cap friendly contract LOL. This contract is begging for a restructuring/extension unless the FO knows something about the cap in 2016 that we don't.

Like most teams, it seems we are banking on the 2015 TV deal to shake up the salary cap. We effectively have a 3 year deal here.

This is why the "6/$120M" number that the media runs with is so stupid. This isn't the MLB.

Clearly they will extend and restructure this after 2015. That seems like a no-brainer.

Yep. Also, Suggs and Ngata will be off the books.

Listening to SiriusNFL this morning they confirmed my view that this is a 3 year deal that will have to be restructured before the 2016 season.
