Re: The RSR Annual "What's Everyone Drinking?" Thread
So glad there are some beer aficionados on here! As an avid home brewer I made a black IPA, called it Death From Above, in December that was my Ravens playoff beer that I drank throughout the whole playoffs. Seems to have brought good luck!
Wicked, Brown Shugga is awesome, but Laguintas Sucks (Brown Shugga Ale Substitue) is even better! And I agree, the hoppier the better for me.
Tonight I am drinking some Sierra Bigfoot and Troegs Nugget Nectar. Two of my all time favorite beers.

I'm enjoying Tito's Homemade Vodka on the rocks with a twist of lemon. If you haven't heard of it it's very good. It's made in Austin by a dude named Tito Beveridge. It's priced considerably lower than all of the top shelf vodkas, but I put it up against any of them. Keep the bottle in the freezer. Pour your desired amount in a shaker, give it a vigorous shake-it-up to wake-it up, and enjoy.

I have the Sucks in the fridge too. I havent tried one yet.
Did you make the recipe yourself for the black ipa? Or did you follow one?
I need to get back into brewing consistently. I made a mocha porter and an IPA last spring. My father in law and I made a curieux style last summer that was outstanding...better than Allagash.
I just havent had the time...haha...or space really.

I have had Tito's. It was in a bloody mary IIRC.
I'm not really into vodka, but i have a bottle of Effen and a bottle of Russian Imperia downstairs. The Imperia is really smooth.
If I am drinking the hard stuff, I am more of a bourbon kind of guy.

Have never seen it anywhere but California, but this is my current favorite beer:

Just love high alcohol content stouts...

The 471 is a good one. The Lucky U is solid as well.
My wife and I went to their brewery on our honeymoon to Vail and the brewmaster there took us around, gave us a bunch of free samples, how he builds a recipe. Cool guy. If you ever get the chance to check it out.

Green Flash WC IPA is definitely the definition of a west coast dank, hoppy ipa. I have only had that and the Rayon Vert, which is a great US representation of the style.
I think for the money/hoppiness factor, Hop Stoopid at 100+ IBUs is the best value for a DIPA.
The Black IPA recipe started out as an attempt to clone the Bear Republic Black Racer 5, but I have made some changes to the hop bills over the past few years...but they still taste very similar. I can send you the recipe if you wanna get back into home brewing.
And thats awesome, Curieux is an amazing beer...its amazing how the Tripel can change when you age it in some whiskey barrels.
Also, to add some beer porn...this is the beer line up I had going on for NYE this year:

Westy Blonde, 8 and 12
Central Waters BBS
BBA Plead the Fifth
Dogfish Head WWS
BBA Old Rasputin

2011 Brandy Barrel Aged Dark Lord
