For those who tailgate in Lot J
Fanatic, Gerg, GKB, MistaT, etc.
I called Cynthia to inquire about getting a parking pass for Lot J. She told me that they won't be running Lot J next year because the casino will be breaking ground there. Just wanted to let you know.
If you want, I can investigate Sharp-Leadenhall school. Last year I paid $410 for a 10 game season.Ravens Nest #1, Harford County

They said this before which ut us on a 2 year hiatus over near the school. The tailgating is okay there but getting out post-game is a nightmare. Lot O is my next option.

Re: For those who tailgate in Lot J
Another option would be to wait & see what the Casino will be doing by the Fall. They are building a 4,000 vehicle parking garage -- 10X Lot J's capacity. See on the left of this rendering:
Harrah's Baltimore.jpg
Lot J is too far from the casino itself to serve any permanent purpose other than remote parking annex, see Lot J between the reddish casino property and the stadium in the map below:

This should be a one year issue. Lot J is too far from the casino to serve a permanent role.If the construction moves along, the Lot J issue may be mitigated. If the garage doesn't open until after the 2013 season, we likely would see Lot J revert to football use the next year. I personally won't be affected, since I get Lots A & H passes which I have been selling, or I can take the light rail; however, our tailgate group goes back to the 1999/2000 seasons, so I would like to keep it up. I'll call some folks I know with the Ravens to see if they can shine some more light than Cynthia did. Someone there had previously told me that there was a scenario where the Casino would use a portion of Lot J for housing construction equipment, but leaving the rest for football parking.
:T2:
btw: If you haven't been down to Warner Street since football season: it looks like a war zone. All the old buildings between the bus station and Lot J are partially or totally torn down, to make way for the garage. In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).

I think I'm looking for a place this year too. Parking keeps going up in the garages so the cost to get a space has become negligible. And Jacob is of age now where we can tailgate a little more when Sunday School schedule allows.
Let me know what you guys come up and the cost.

Didn't realize the casino would be encroaching that close. Kind of glad that I sold my PSL.

Re: For those who tailgate in Lot J
I wouldn't mind going back to the private lot which we had a few years ago, if available. Having the wind, and Lot H noise, blocked off on three sides was attractive. Plus the lawn allowed for sprawling out.
If you all decide on Lot O, it's not likely that there would be enough spaces available for our group. I'm not a big fan of Lot O due to the sea of asphalt. I would opt for Light Rail or one of the lots which I resell, and I'll come by Lot O some games for a beer or three.
Perhaps you were sleeping 4+ years ago. The Lot J/Casino story has been fairly well covered by local media. To recap for you:
Baltimore politicians waited until the day after the election of 2008 to announce (initially) that the casino would be housed in Lot J. After the prospective casino operators held their noses about Lot J's size and lack of highway visibility, the City recanted on Lot J being the casino location. Instead, the State's gambling organization offered up the property at the Baltimore Washington Parkway (Russell Street) and Bayard Street, which is 2 blocks south of Lot J on run-down Warner Street. Lot J has been a pawn between the City, the casino, and the Maryland Stadium Authority. In a 2003 BBC poll that asked Brits to name the "Greatest American Ever", Mr. T came in fourth, behind ML King (3rd), Abe Lincoln (2nd) and Homer Simpson (1st).
