Re: Russell Street community mock draft

With their 2nd round pick, the San Francisco 49er's select

    Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee.

Randy Moss won't be back, Mario Manningham is not consistent enough to be a #2, Kyle Williams has concussion issues, and last year's 1st round pick (AJ Jenkins) didn't even register a catch.

AJ Jenkins may contribute next season, but I don't think Jim Harbaugh wants to take that chance and will grab another receiver in this draft class. Kaepnernick really needs another guy to throw the ball to besides Michael Crabtree, who is a good #1 in his own right, but he doesn't have the vertical speed to blow the top off of defenses. When Jim Harbaugh signed Randy Moss I think they were looking for a bigger receiver that can go up and get a pass at it's highest point, make plays after the catch, and be a legitimate deep threat. Randy Moss could still get open, but his deep threat days are long gone.

Hunter has deep speed to go along with a 6'4" 205lbs frame. He has some room to bump up into the low teens (210-215lbs) and not lose too much speed, but overall he should provide a nice compliment to Michael Crabtree.

Other possibilities at this pick: Stedman Bailey, Da'Rick Rogers, or Jamar Taylor.

With the final pick of round 2, the Baltimore Ravens select Bacarri Rambo FS, Georgia.

While I would love to say that this pick is a luxury with Ed Reed coming back next year to mentor Rambo for a year, I fear it's actually one of those unique spots where BPA and positional need line up. I expect Ed to walk this offseason and Rambo is the kind of kid who you hope will fill the huge shoes Ed is leaving behind.

I really like Hunter for the 49ers. He gives them options at the position which is what they need going into next year. He also has the size that the 49ers seem to like for receivers. That's a very good fit. I wouldn't mind the Ravens taking him 1 pick down if he fell there.

    I don't like that pick.

    Sorry ASB.

Rambo is a SS. He doesn't have the speed to be a FS, IMO.

DJ Swearinger would be a much better FS for the Ravens.

    I agree.

I had Stedman Bailey there for a few minutes, but I think they'd lean towards Hunter over Bailey because Hunter has vertical speed and is 6'4".

Chiefs on the clock for round 3!

With the first pick of the third round, Kansas City selects Kyle Long, OT/G Oregon.

Hyper athletic and with a family history of great play in the AFC west, the Chiefs have a guy who can theoretically play 3 or 4 spots on the Line as he matures and develops.

I don't see slow when I watch him. I see a guy who made plays at every level of the field. He has some issues keeping his head on straight, but nothing major. I think his versatility and physicality will go a long long way to reestablishing our rep as a defense who bends teams to our will.

Since ASB took my pick lol

With the 2nd pick in the 3rd Round of the 2013 NFL Draft, The Jacksonville Jaguars select, Menelik Watson, OT, Florida St.

Went with Watson because the Jags could use a RT and they need one athletic enough to fit their new zone blocking scheme. Still very raw but he should be able to compete at RT from day 1 with what they have there. If he doesnt work out at RT they also need help at LG.

    Detroit on the clock
