Man I don't want to blame anybody, but John's stupid fake FG on fucking 4th and 9 and Pollard looking in the backfield and getting sucked up every single time has killed us.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Our D is just too slow and cant cover. Middle of the field is open all day long for the niners.

You can't question the fake FG. They were backed up and we got the ball back right away on a sorter field and scored a TD. That may not have happened had we kicked 3 and the get the ball on the 20. It's all circumstance and context.
