Flacco uses the R-word....great....
Denver reporter asked Joe about prospects of a cold weather Super Bowl....
“Yeah, I think it’s retarded,” Flacco said at his Super Bowl press gathering Monday. “I probably shouldn’t say that. I think it’s stupid. If you want a Super Bowl, put a retractable dome on your stadium. Then you can get one. Other than that I don’t really like the idea. I don’t think people would react very well to it, or be glad to play anybody in that kind of weather.”
I could really give a shit about the cold weather SB stuff. But WHY???? did he feel the need to call it that word?!?!?!?!
Seriously, stupid fucking comment Joe. Welcome to ridicule-ville. Especially when your future C, Gino Gradkowski, is majorly involved with the R-WORD CAMPAIGN!.
.
“When I think of a Baltimore Raven - we go in there, we take your lunch box, we take your sandwich, we take your juice box, we take your applesauce, and we take your spork and we break it. And we leave you with an empty lunch. That’s the Baltimore Raven way.” - Steve Smith Sr.
Call me a Special Teams coach again. I dare you! I double dare you, MFer!

Non-issue really. He wasn't attacking anyone; not even an individual or group.
Unless of course there is an active group or PR person for "Sueprbowls of past and future for colder climates" representative that would want to comment....
No? Then the world moves on I guess.Self appointed Ravens SuperFan in the southern hemisphere/New Zealand.

"A lot" is a two word expression denoting a great deal or greatly, as in "I like sunshine a lot." "Alot" is a lovable imaginary grammar monster. You can love a lot; you can love an alot; you can love alots a lot; but they are not the same thing.

I should also point out that an evolving language and terms formally considered appropriate becoming impolite isn't what PC ever was about. When people accuse such examples as being PC, or a PC society run amuck, they don't really understand what PC is. Political Correctness, which was an academic issue in the 90's, was ridiculous. This isn't that.

Re: Flacco uses the R-word....great....
Poor word choice by Joe. And to be honest, the blowback of people whining about hating "how PC we've become" is just as annoying as PC itself. I mean, times change, attitudes change, whether you like it or not.
But it's a tempest in a tea pot. Non-issue, he apologized, move on.
And poor word choice aside, he's got a point. If they are going to make the Super Bowl an event, putting it in a place where there is such a risk of inclement weather at that time of year is just, well, foolish. And don't think just because New York got the Super Bowl means Baltimore will. Or Pittsburgh. Or Cleveland. Or Cincinatti. Or any other northern market with an outdoor stadium. They got it because New York is self-fellating and wanted in on the Super Bowl action, practicality be damned.

A little bit ignorant, but overall a non-issue. Political correctness is one of the scourges of our time. He, like the majority of the millions of people who use that word as a synonym for "bad," meant no offense. I understand that's not good enough for some people but it's good enough for me.

Re: Flacco uses the R-word....great....
To be serious about this, I think Flacco (at least from what Scally's posted quote says) recognized that "retard" or "retarded" is probably not an appropriate word to use when addressing the rationale over domed stadiums and the desire to host a Super Bowl. And please understand, I completely recognize the issue of not using inappropriate terms in situations like this (e.g., commenting to the media as a QB representing one of the SB teams).
FWIW, and IMO, I suspect it's a "youthful" (read: knucklehead and inexperienced") comment that likely does not reflect Flacco's feelings about those citizens who are mentally or emotionally challenged. I'd even bet that Flacco feels badly about saying what he did, in the way he said what he did. I'll give him a pass on this one.
