And the Head Super Bowl Referee is ...

    Jerome Boger

... But some other officials are not too happy about this. Some other referees are claiming he was downgraded eight times for blown calls this season yet, on appeal, all eight downgrades were reversed by the league.

    Per PFT ....

    HR--
Interesting article. I suspect a lot of "politics" go into stuff like this, and yet I suspect that guy's who don't get picked do have an axe to grind, so who knows?

Just a point of information - Can you describe the actual business set-up/relationship/etc., on the officials? Are they employees of the NFL? Does the NFL provide the assessments and subsequent grading? Are the officials covered by the terms of the (what I assumed was an NFL players') CBA? IS there a link somewhere that draws the big picture?

    Thanks...

I'm just glad it's not Winter or Triplette.

Doesn't look like the Ravens have played a game under Boger since 2010 - home win over Denver.

A couple in 2007 and 2008 as well.

San Francisco have had him twice this year - wins over Buffalo and their game against GB in the playoffs.

Don't know enough about him as a ref.

We stuffed Denver in 2010 with him as a ref, doesn't have much history with the Ravens. Probably a good thing.

Thought refs weren't allowed to do teams they previous did in the same postseason?

There's a site called Football Zebras that covers all things referee.

The refs are employed by the NFL under contractual basis and do have a union. Thus, they can and do bargain collectively (meaning they have their own CBA). Their CBA is independent from the players CBA.

They do get graded and its those grades that determine who gets post season assignments. Who specifically grades them, I'm not sure.

    HR-
Merci beaucoup! Looks like I'll do some reading/researching today in lieu of watching the Ravens. Appreciate the site/link referral.
