    Another surprising cut

Bengals cut Ed Hartwell, I guess he doesn't have much left in the tank...

Too bad he burnt his bridges here with all that talk about Ray Lewis, or he might have been back here.

Disagree, I think everyone on this team, including the rookies at LB have more talent than Hartwell does.

Ed has medium large talent, too bad his mouth is super-sized.

Another Raven who bottomed out after leaving.

If anything this should teach guys to re-sign with us when they have the chance.

I was going to say the exact same thing. We have the best defensive system in the league, particularly for linebackers. Once they leave the system they realize they weren't nearly as talented as they thought. Even Adalius will slip I have a feeling...

Agreed. I like AD and all, but I haven't understood why people think he is going to be a huge loss. I personally thought both Ray, Bart, and Suggs all had better years in '06 but AD became a media favorite.

I don't think he'll be as good in NE as he was here.

The thing that's different about Adalius vs. the other guys that left is that he does so much more. We have many cogs in the machine that makes this D so incredibly effective. But Adalius did it all...he wasn't just a specialist doing his job. No one in recent memory in this game does the things he does. Can we get by without him? Of course. Will be worse off without him? Probably a little, but not a whole lot.

But that's also why I think he's gonna be effective on the Pats, coupled with one other thing (get to that in a sec). His ability to "do it all" sets him apart from everyone else. He's a very special talent. That "other thing" is the Pats coaching. No one schemes on defense the way we do, but the Pats are pretty close to it with how inventive they are. They're like us...they plug guys in to make things work, and they're very inventive with their play-calling not only to game plan against other teams but to use guys how they're going to be most effective. Any other team in the league would misuse Adalius. Not NE though...they'll know exactly how to use him, and will give him the best chance by a long shot to succeed and play at the same level he played at in Baltimore.

Honestly, I like Adalius to be the first Ravens D free agent to live up to the expectations when signing with a different team.

I think AD will do fine with the Pats, and I also think we won't miss him. He's awfullly good, but our D is solid all around, and won't miss a beat.

As far as Hartwell goes, that move really surprises me. He was listed consistently as one of the Bengals big offseason moves -- I guess it wasn't so big after all.
