Frustrated that we didn't win seats from the Ravens. My family has EIGHT season tickets and they can't give us a few at face value : (

We booked thru the Ravens website--- Prime Sports --- Air/Hotel/Ticket = 4,995 a person

Rent a car and stay in Biloxi, Ms at the casinos.....its an hours drive to NOLA. Or you could head out to Houma, that is an hour west of New Orleans. Cheaper motels and such.

Might want to check vrbo.com or homeaway.com as an option.

Both sites are places where folks can list their homes / condos for rent. My wife and I have used both before and the process is quite easy.

There are several Hilton-chain hotels along Canal Street - nothing in New Orleans will be inexpensive during Madis Gras season coupled with the Super Bowl (idiotic planning by the NFL!). We stayed at the Doubletree at the foot of Canal (next to a big gambling casino) for the last Ravens away game in the Big Easy - a good walk to the Dome or a quick Red Line streetcar ride from a stop almost at the hotel's lobby.

A "jewel" which we have used several times is the Avenue Plaza hotel, which is on the edge of the Garden District and also on a streetcar line. Much less hectic than the Canal Street or French Quarter hotels, but as close or closer time-wise to the Superdome. (Green Line Streetcars run about every two minutes). Their suites have kitchenettes, which will save you a bundle if - like me - you don't care for Creole food and the jacked up prices for Mardi Gras.

Do not stay at any hotel within three/four blocks of the Dome - shabby and unsafe at night.

I have avoided those garages because of poor design - it took us 1/2 hour to an hour to exit when we were Saints season ticket holders - and that was in the 80's when the Saints only drew 40,000. Never saw tailgating, but I wasn't looking.

I have gone to 1/2 dozen Saints games with friends over the past few years. Tailgating is going to be a challenge. There used to be several cash lots IIRC along Loyola - about three blocks from the Dome. Pre-Katrina, there were two plazas which were great for pregame and postgame outdoor parties - no invitations necessary - with live bands and street vendors of Hurricanes and similar fruity libations. One plaza was across the street from the Dome on LaSalle, and the other was between the Dome and the Hyatt Regency (may or may not still be there after Dome construction last year).

There isn't a Hilton property available within 50 miles. Been checking 2-3 times a day with no luck.

You may have to wind up staying at Baton Rouge or along the "Redneck Riviera" Miss/Alabama Gulf coast.

Looks good but not what I'm looking for.

The place I'm looking for was on Travel Channel once or twice. They serve chicken & waffles, greens, cornbread, red beans & rice, etc.

Edit: found it .... Willie Mae' Scotch House

Any info on Country Inn and Suites in Covington. That is where the travel package put us. They say that shuttles are running during the day, but would like some idea from the ground.

    Thanks.
