Re: Game Thread: Conference Weekend: vs New England

Anybody who is pissed at the defense has very little football knowledge.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Hernandez got called on one out of 2 of those types of plays last week vs Houston. I've seen that play by Woodhead a couple of times with the Pats and at least once by another team and it hasn't been called a penalty (though I remember it being a penalty a while ago, around the 03 or 04 playoffs against Indy). I'm guessing the referees know a little more about pre-snap procedures than we do

I want to see the next time Brady slides with his legs up the closest defender stomp on his neck.

    Exactly.

I guess recognizing something like that would take competency, something NFL officials, especially leavys crew, lacks.

Tom Brady 14-for-24 for 139 yards and 1 TD in the first half. Joe Flacco 6-for-12 for 81 yards.

Credit where it is due: 2 GREAT calls by BB. 1) Mallett as up back on the punt forcing the Ravens to call TO, (fortunately, no harm done), and 2) the direct snap to Dick, er....Woodhead.

I'm wondering if Brady's "slide" and the bad clock management are related. Could Brady be feeling frustrated, despite the lead?

    I agree.

They need to get into more of an up-tempo swing of things.

Re: Game Thread: Conference Weekend: vs New England

Pats' D is playing smart, they're gonna take away everything deep and force us to consistently execute down the field on offense. Joe might only get one or two chances on mistakes in coverage and he has gotta take them second half. Also the running game has to get on track to bring up their deep coverage.

Defensively our game plan is obviously to bleed slowly between the 20s and buckle down on a short field in the red zone, same as the rest of the season.

Long way to go yet, let's get it.
