  1. Sounds like it could be a possible conspiracy...

I don't really think there is a conspiracy about Bryant McKinnie not playing but I could see how someone might think that the Ravens don't want to give Flacco the money he wants, so they are going to stick to their guns at left tackle with Oher... I honestly don't believe that the team I love would do something to that extent to save money..However, if someone were to think it, I can completely understand because Michael Oher is NOT A LEFT TACKLE...I think he is a good O-lineman and would be better served at guard or right tackle...

Has Flacco played great this year? Emphatically NO! I can agree that Joe does hold the ball too long at times. But the offensive line has played worse and I for one am so tired and weary from watching replay after replay of Joe getting hit two to three seconds after the ball has snapped! Where's Jah? He's focused on one defenseman while another slips between he and Oher... And Birk? He's on his arse quite a lot during the game which collapses the pocket with no way to step up in the pocket. I just heard a clip of Birk telling Andy Moehler(spell check), "This game sucks"..

I have one question for the Ravens:

How can your QB feel comfortable behind an O-line in which he is supposed to trust to protect him when his blindside is not protecting him? FRUSTRATED :grbac:

Would not be surprised but did not want to be the one to mention it. Also McKinnie had incentive pay if he played a certain amount of games or snaps he got more money and he is in the Dog house and we all know how that goes, he will not come out unless injuries.

The frustrating thing is that there were injuries and they went with Oher-Reid-Birk-Williams-KO. I don't think anyone believes that line is better than McKinnie-Reid-Birk-KO-Oher

McKinnie is most likely horribly out of shape.

There's no dog house conspiracy. Jesus. Have you people watched him play when he's been inserted in jumbo packages?

His chance to earn that incentive has long since passed. So, whatever the reason is that he's not getting the chance now, it's not about the money at this point.

+1. Dude has checked out. Can't even bother to show effort on his one play a week but people think he'll bust his ass for 4 quarters?

He is just in the doghouse is my guess. Last time I saw him when they played Dallas he didnt look fat to me. If they had Mckinnie and KO on the same side with Yanda and Oher on the other side, they would for sure run the ball alot better as well.

Hasn't Filmstudy given McKinnie positive ratings this year?

"Horribly"? Doubtful. Without sufficient stamina for the uptempo no-huddle/sugar-huddle that Flacco likes? Much more likely.

with McKinnie, as with Gaither, the FO let themselves be seduced by the prospect of a guy with all the natural ability to play LT at a high level but poor motivation & work ethic. They essentially gambled that they would be able to find ways to motivate them & improve that work ethic. When Gaither started out it looked like they had a steal for a 5th round draft pick. But after that scary injury vs NE in 2009 & then the mysterious back problems of 2010...

Now McKinnie they thought they had figured out--he needed cash, so they structured a contract accordingly. Problem was, you can build in payments for meeting thresholds in measurable things like weight, but how do you define "in shape"? Compound this with the presence of Oher, who thinks he's a LT & is willing to put in the work, & when McKinnie arrived late (with a cockamamie excuse) & "out of shape," Michael seized his opportunity. Some guys might have been pissed off enough at riding the pine to bust their asses to get back onto the field--which I would guess is what Harbaugh was counting on, particularly since Mac stood to make a lot of extra cash in incentives--but he doesn't seem to be that kind of person, & its not hard to see the vicious cycle developing: Mac resents being demoted, Harbs resents Mac not busting his butt to justify being re-promoted & won't put him back in at starting LT, Mac concluding that no matter what he does Harbaugh is not going to let him reach those incentives so he says "aah, fuck it,"...

I don't blame the FO & Harbaugh much for Gaither--it's at least arguable that he really was injured & that it was mostly not his fault, just bad luck all around*--but they really, really screwed the pooch on McKinnie. A guy with that much natural talent on the bench while the OL struggles? Jeebus.

And that's just one position. Don't get me going about all the time wasted trying to bulk up Kruger into a DE...

    * I've consistently defended Gaither against charges of faking injury, dogging it & deliberately not earning his salary, & caught more than my fair share of flak for it. Part of the reason why is that when I was in my 20s I spent years struggling with a mysterious back problem causing intermittent back spasms that felt like they were breaking me in two--& it took multiple visits to specialists & a bit of luck to finally figure out what was wrong & how to treat it. A lot of what Gaither said about his situation sounded completely plausible to me because it paralleled my own experiences.

Re: Sounds like it could be a possible conspiracy...

I'd love to see us get a good left tackle. We were spoilt with having JO for so long. Part of me's pretty sad he never got to play with Flacco as it could've been very interesting.

Oher is a very good run blocker so we certainly shouldn't be thinking about cutting ties (unless he wants left tackle money, but having read his great story, he seems to have been instilled with values and wouldn't be too greedy. The only issue is if he feels he has to live up to 'The Blind Side', and is determined to show he can play LT), but we should move him to guard or RT, where he played pretty well last season.

And Lobachevsky, I know what you mean regarding persistent back pain- I suffered with strange back pain for years and could never work out why. I eventually went to a physio who told me I had the shortest calfs/hamstrings he had ever seen. He even said "I'm almost in tears"!! It took me structured stretching of the muscles and losing about 30lbs to sort it out. I think carrying excessive weight like your average offensive lineman like Gaithermeans he is always going to struggle with it. I do think his lack of work ethic was the real reason Harbs and co felt let down by him, but I don't think he was faking the injury based on my own experiences, and indeed, your own.

So, it is a conspiracy when a guy shows up to OTA's and pre-season out of shape and already has questions surrounding his dedication?

I don't see a conspiracy. I just see a coach who wants to play the guys that he knows are going to give it their all out there. Say what you want about Oher, but he goes all out every game. You can't say that about McKinnie.
