    Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread

Got another interesting guy we havent really talked about. Jesse Williams from Alabama, probably a 2nd round pick. Now we have a 2nd round pick from Alabama that is also a NT that hasnt panned out. Williams also is probably always gonna be a 2 down guy(Although i think he has more ability then some think as a guy that can push the pocket on 3rd down), but he's a better player then Cody and i think he'd upgrade the run defense immediately. On the other hand he's not gonna be a great pash rusher and they just got bit with the drafting of Cody.

A solid NT makes Ngata better, McPhee better, and any rookie ILB better. If he can push the pocket that's a bonus.

NT: The second most important fix this OS imo.

Agreed. I don't see a huge need at DE or DT assuming Ngata and McPhee can get healthy and Art Jones can continue to play at a high level. They have good depth for 2013 as well in McBean, Tyson, and Hall. 5-tech DE/DT look solid to me although I'd never argue with adding an athletic mismatch like Margus Hunt who can rush the passer from the inside.

The problem is NT... Cody is just so, so bad. If they want to stick to a base 3-4 then they need a new guy and Williams is a great pick. IMO I don't want them to do that, though. I think they should just go 4-3 instead, play Ngata and Art Jones as the starting DTs with a rotation behind them, McPhee is the nickel specialist with Upshaw and Suggs at DE, Upshaw kicks inside next to McPhee in the nickel (he's been kicking inside a lot this year) and we'd need a speed rusher opposite Suggs to paly end in the nickel--which could be Kruger if he resigns.

I think that fits our personnel better... Upshaw looks better with his hand in the dirt than standing up, Ngata would probably be better playing more 4-3 DT, and a 4 man line keeps the LBs cleaner. McClellan is a good Sam, Ellerbe's a good Mike, and we don't really have a natural Will although McClain could play that role on run downs. I'd like to get an athletic rookie to come in and play in the nickel next to Ellerbe.

John Jenkins academically ineligible for Georgia's bowl game, this will be huge for Kwame Geathers if he plays well, rumor has it he's think about coming out. Geather's could be a mid round upside pick

Also forgot about Aubrayo Franklin as an alternative in FA at NT, had a pretty solid season for the Chargers, shouldnt be too expensive, already has ties here.

Watching the pizza bowl ATM (C Michigan vs WK)...

Just as I expected the two players standing out are Eric Fisher (LT, for Central Michigan) and Andrew Jackson (LB, for WK). Two small school prospects I'd love to see the Ravens target come draft day.

Wish the three WRs weren't suspended by their coach before the game, then they lost their FB on the opening kickoff. So farthe stars are the punters

Yeah, what's up with that man? In a bowl game? Damn.

Lol, just heard a stat where this Andrew Jackson made 19 tackles in one game earlier in the season.

In height maybe, but he weighs 265 lbs lol.

Still a huge fan of Fisher as a possible first round pick for us, absolute beast.
