Josh Bynes ran a 4.8 at his pro day, but on the DEN tape he looks faster than that. Was he hurt back then? Crazy to think this guy might be sporting the green dot in September. Not a talent statement, just a youth/experience one.
Brandon Spikes ran a 5.0 or something ridiculous like that. I'd say he plays a lot faster than that.

The 40 is more about explosion and form than being fast. That's why guys train for the 40...as in specifically train for it. The launch is the most important part.

The 40 is important, to a degree, but for a defender (especially a pass rusher) I think the 10-yard split is way more indicative of a skill set.

I keep forgetting about McAdoo. Guess he'll get his chance in camp.

    Yea.

Since he's got 2 years with the team now, he should [hopefully...yea...] have down the concepts of the defense, calls, alignments, and positional details.

Who knows? He may have been a contributor as a pass rusher this year.

What do people think about Corey Lemonier?
    DE, Auburn
    6'4, 246
    34 Tackles, 5.5 TFL, 5.5 Sacks (2012)

Not an elite pass rushing prospect but great at setting the edge and a really instinctive intelligent player! Him and Upshaw on the outside would set the edges for a long time and both don't stop playing every snap till the whistle!

Move Suggs inside with Ngata and Jones/McPhee. Solves the problem of Cody/Kemo not fulfilling the NT/DT role and shoring up the edges on runs.

Definitely seems like the FO type of player

Nigel Carr is another guy that could have potential. Adrian Hamilton could replace Kruge. I'm concerned that McAdoo is injury prone. With the draft an theseyoung guys we can replace our losses on defense and probably actually upgrade over our 2012 performance.

McAdoo, Hamilton and Carr will definitely have their chances to make the team this year.

He is a hybrid DE/OLB and played it in college - I wasn't implying DT! :)

Maybe as a mid round prospect.

I'm not really in love with him though. I've watched a fair amount of SEC ball and when I see Lemonier I see a guy who is kind of a straight-line speed guy without a lot of pass rushing moves. He has a hard time fighting off OT's when they get their hands on him.

I'd much rather see us go for Tank Carradine, Brandon Jenkins, John Simon, or Travis Long if we're looking at mid round pass rushers.

ILB then? I do not think so. ILB is not a hard position to find, OLB/ DE types like Suggs are.

Tank is the only one of those names I really know, but I love this guy. He looked just as good as Werner to me.

    Re: New draft/FA/offseason thread

I saw this mock online and have to share. I think it is quite accurate.

    http://www.fieldgulls.com/2013/2/12/...cal-mock-draft

    2013 Mock Draft:

    1. Chiefs - A defensive lineman you are skeptical of

    2. Jaguars - A player you weren't familiar with

    3. Raiders - The fastest player at the combine

    4. Eagles - A big name with a questionable attitude

    5. Lions - A wide receiver

    6. Browns - A bad QB

    7. Cardinals - Surprisingly, a pick you really like

    8. Bills - An "overdraft"

    9. Jets - "BOOO!"

    10. Titans - A phenomenal athlete

    11. Chargers - A defensive player that you're surprised was still available

    12. Dolphins - A reach

    13. Buccaneers - A player that is "just perfect for that defense"

    14. Panthers - Something compared to Julius Peppers

    15. Saints - "I think this guy is going to help turnaround that defense" but then doesn't.

    16. Rams - "Finally someone to help stabilize that offensive line" but then doesn't.

    17. Steelers - A "hard-nosed, tough as nails" defensive player

    18. Cowboys - A "steal at 18"

    19. Giants - "BOOOO!"

    20. Bears - A replacement for someone old

    21. Bengals - I don't know but you need to post his bail first

    22. Rams - "Finally someone to catch a pass" but then doesn't

    23. Vikings - An elite talent or Christian Ponder

    24. Colts - Unless it's the #1 overall pick, you are not familiar with this player

    25. Seahawks - A guy that you either thought would go "late 2nd, early 3rd" or literally did not know existed

    26. Packers - Someone "tough in the trenches"

    27. Texans - Defense

    28. Broncos - Literally anything from Von Miller to Tim Tebow

    29. Patriots - A defensive back that disappoints

    30. Falcons - A pick you genuinely like

    31. 49ers - Someone that will be inactive for all of 2013

    32. Ravens - A guy that actually is a steal and you have no idea why the Ravens are getting another stud defensive player
