Re: Draft / FA / Offseason Roster Moves (Merged)

Rappoport reporting Linta and Ravens negotiated for about 8 hrs this week. "Plugging away"

    Count me in for KC.

I do think they are really overpaying if they give up their second rounder.

    I wouldn't give up more than a 4th.

Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

A 4th is the most I would give for Alex Smith.

No way they give up a 2nd. No way the Niners would expect anything close to a 2nd.

    Yup

    Matt Miller‏@nfldraftscout

#49ers have deal in place to trade Alex Smith, per @JasonLaCanfora. Trade partner not known, but not Jaguars.

If it's KC then they must be planning to re-sign Bowe...particularly after dumping Breaston.
And/or maybe that 3rd rounder is for Jeremy Maclin? (Drafted by Reid)

I would never, never, give a 3rd for Smith. But if the 63 rumor holds indeed that is what KC did.

Wow...some NFL fan bases have it really rough. We are spoiled.

When it comes to QBs, these are desperate times for about 20 or so teams out of 32.

Well, IMO that is too high for Alex Smith...

That said, he has proven that he can be a starter in this league. Is a 3rd rounder really too much to give up for a starting QB?

They should have an extra 3rd coming for losing Carr. But you are talking top 3rd vs. bottom 3rd.

SF is already stacked with picks...they are going to be a tough out for years.

LaCanfora reports a deal is done and will be completed for Alex Smith on March 12. He cites that its either with KC or JAX.
