Dean Pees is starting to grow on me.
Maybe it's the move to the booth, maybe it's the return of Suggs, but this defense has steadily improved since that shellacking by the Texans.
Multiple line shifts, more creative blitzes, and vastly improved secondary play are just a few things that have steadily gotten better the past four games...and...they seemed to have gotten back to playing solid run defense.
It will be interesting, and hopefully fun to see what they do with the Steelers this week with that wretched OL they have.

So all we are saying is give Pees a chance?

Also gotta understand that he is the Ravens 3rd DC in 3 years. I know the defense has basically stayed the same, but it takes a while for coordinator and players to get used to one another. I think we're seeing that maturation process on the field. Hopefully the upwards trend continues, especially given our injurious nature this year.

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for and why it is here it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarrely inexplicable…
There is another theory which states that this - has - already - happened…

I said all along people were in to quick a rush to label him Mattison 2.0. The loss of Suggs couldn't be greater. Plus, last I checked, they figure your defensive rating at the end of the year. Not the first 8 games.

Re: Dean Pees is starting to grow on me.
I think a number of reasons are at work for the improved D.
1- is players adjusting not only to a new DC but we have to remember that there are changed cogs in the wheel, Suggs returning, Lardarius exiting, Ray exiting, not Graham entering... Tyson didn't play much early did he? IIRC not until McPhee's knees
That is a lot of chaos to smoothly absorb.
2- I think the move to the booth helped. Remembering the KC shellacking we were getting and the D-line shift/adjustment at halftime shut Charles pretty much down for the rest of the game. Maybe Dean realized that he would have seen it sooner from up-high. Harder to realize looking at pictures, some things are easier to see watching live.
Plus Pees doesn't seem to be a rah-rah coach (Ryans) so his emotional impact is minimal.... and speaking of that, maybe we have to add in a couple of points for Ray's return to the rah-rah sideline.
3-have to add in time of possession (Ravens 39:20 Chargers 34:51 OT), number of plays run (they had 65, can't find Ravens totals) OT should have skewed the numbers higher but they don't look bad even ignoring overtime play totals... so yep improvement was even better.
If Pees can make his tweaks faster he will grow on a lot more of usat one point of my life I was exactly Pi years old
