Re: Peyton Manning 2012 prediction
Manning retires. If he wants it, he can have the Colts coaching job or a position in the front office e.g. Elway.

That would only work if the rest of the team went to Jacksonville with him...
Re: Peyton Manning 2012 prediction
The Colts don't have the talent to win a Super Bowl even if Manning comes back with full health, which is in doubt. I think they keep Luck, and if they need to get rid of Manning to do it, then I think they will.
Possible Destinations for Mannings...
Ridiculous....

4. Baltimore Ravens
Now, we get into situations where Manning would be the final piece of a championship puzzle. We've all seen the Joe Flacco experience for four seasons now; it's not working. Flacco's an average starting quarterback by just about every definition of the word. Check out his Advanced Passing stats at pro-football-reference.com; he's right around the 100 league average for his career in every statistic besides interception rate. We know how great the Ravens defense is, and they already have an offense with players that would fit Manning perfectly; Ray Rice, Anquan Boldin, Torrey Smith, and Dennis Pitta are pretty good style matches for Joseph Addai, Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon, and Dallas Clark. (Obviously, Rice is better than Addai and Wayne is better than Boldin, but you get the idea.) The only problem is that the Ravens are always going to be up against the salary cap because of the amount of money they spend on their defense, and they already need to sign Rice to a long-term extension. They probably would not be able to afford Manning, even if he's a great fit.

Re: Possible Destinations for Mannings...
That is funny. I am sure Peyton would love to play with Ray and Ed, and there is a decent chance he hits free agency, but it is in no way a realistic scenario.
Also Flacco is by any reasonable measure an above average QB, who is now in his 4th season with the 1st 3 as succesful as could have been expected.
Re: Possible Destinations for Mannings...
Fuckin' absurd. :ref:
Anyway, Ozzie isn't in the market for a 36 year-old overpaid (from a ravens perspective) has-been whose neck could be one tackle from career-ending injury.
Re: Possible Destinations for Mannings...
Won't happen, as the Ravens front office are committed to Joe Flacco who is young and has a whole career in front of him, most likely hasn't hit his ceiling yet ( but perhaps close ), and is healthy.
Yes, IMO Peyton would make the Ravens better at quarterback if he were healthy, but for how long? Peyton in his prime and healthy; the Ravens would have been a dynasty with every little doubt in my mind.
Re: Possible Destinations for Mannings...
Does anyone think that the Colts would follow up and 0-16 season by starting an untested rookie QB?
No way... Manning will get his roster bonus and will be the starting QB there for another 3-4 years.
Re: Possible Destinations for Mannings...
wow. you can also pull up the stats where he compares favorably to Brady and Manning in their respective careers. This year has been a step back, but id rather give him a pass with all the new pieces and Cam having his head in his ass for the first half of the season. I hope number 1 was san fran 2 was denver and 3 was Miami and the rest of the league was tied for 4th.
