I would much rather have Williams than Doss but Doss is Joe's boy. I am sure the coaches know best but williams looked mush more comforaqble with contact and with fighting for the ball.
People forget that Boldin went through a case of the drops as a veteran. He dropped a big one against Pitt in the playoffs. The next season he had quite a few drops. There was a thread on here where people were arguing he lead the league in drops. I am not sure why people are so quick to write off Doss. He was at least getting separation. Torrey Smith also dropped balls at alarming clip as a rookie. The one thing that was used to describe Doss coming out of college was great hands. With more playing time he may be fine.
I am also excited to see what happens with Deonte Thompson. He looked great in the preseason last year. He has speed. He did not play in a passing offense in college so he was a bit raw. Streeter was very raw coming out of college as well.
The Ravens offense under Cam was not one that enabled wrs to thrive. The Ravens did not have wr in the top 20 in any stats last year. There was very little opportunity for anyone outside of the starters. It is hard to know what the Ravens really have in the young guys because we did not get to see them much. There was no way they were playing a young guy over Boldin or Smith.
Hopefully the Ravens offense opens it up a bit and we get to see what some of these kids can do.
I would completely expect the Ravens to draft at least 1...maybe 2 receivers in this draft.
Nuk Hopkins, Da'Rick Rogers, Quinton Patton, etc...There are some solid prospects that could fill in as a slot/#2 nicely.
I still think Doss could emerge as a good player.
Hopefully Streeter starts to put things together as well. It would be nice to have a 6'5" guy down in the red zone.
Why is Doss the latest scapegoat? I really don't understand it.
Sure he's had some drops, but he's also had very limited snaps. Give him a chance to develop because he's only 23. Torrey Smith had all kinds of drops early in his career, and people on this board were calling Torrey a bust.
