No he's not. He sucks. He's not gonna do shit on Rex's team. I can't believe anyone here would think he's worth squat...

All over the field making plays.

To be fair, we didn't "let him go". He was following Rex Ryan wherever he went. That was very public and talked about on the various radio stations. And honestly, he did have some tackling problems last year too in the open field.
I'm not up to watching football today, but how is Leonhard looking on special teams. That is what's important afterall.
Leonard wanted to be a starter. He wasn't here cause Landry was coming back. So he walked. Happens all the time on every team.
On a side note did anyone else hear Phil Simms say a flag shouldn't had been thrown on Vincent Jackson for kicking the Challenge Flag? What a complete moron.
Looks like Leonard put on a substantial amount of weight since last year. He's been a heck of a player for the Jets.
I was pretty pissed that we let him go for LANDRY of all people. More glory for Ozzie if Landry succeeds than Leonhard I guess. Ozzie had a bad free agent class this year(although he had a solid draft class-as usual).
You sure about that Brawla?Quote:
Ozzie had a bad free agent class this year
Matt Birk for $3 mil per v. JB's $20 mil+ signing bonus
Kelley Washington, NFL minimum
David Tyree, NFL minimum
Dannel Ellerbe, UDFA
Cary Williams, NFL minimum
Domonique Foxworth
Chris Carr, 2 years, $5mil
While Ozzie didn't make a big splash in free agency due to being hampered by the salary cap, these players for the most part brought value given their contracts.
Foxworth showed signs of being a very good corner and then there were times when he failed. You could argue that his spotty play at times was the result of a poor pass rush while drawing the opponent's most difficult assignment.
Moreover, Foxworth's contract is nowhere near as rich as his agent would like the world to think it is as explained here: FOXWORTH CONTRACT DETAILS
Jim Leonard was a decent player but he's so overhyped here in this town. Nakamura and Zbikowski will eventually be better players and the team needed a slot cover guy like Carr who you have to admit had a very good second half of the season and was certainly worth the $2.5 per.
I've been hearing people say since last year that Leonhard was overrated and overhyped. I'm not so sure. I thought he did well for us in '08 and obviously he's playing great football in NY. Admittedly the Jets overpaid for him, but that's hardly unique in this league, particularly with the larger market, cash-rich teams. Just look at the contract of Albert Butterworth, er ...I mean Haynesworth ...down in DC.
Understand, I don't particularly care for the Jets or for Rex Ryan's style, but they have exceeded expectations this year, their defense has been terrific, and Leonhard has been part of that ...as a starter.
