Re: It's easy to see why Cleveland hates us.
From John Clayton's article on the Browns today:
"Over the past four years, the Browns are 0-16 against home teams with winning records. League-wide, teams were 24-97 last season on the road against winning teams. "
Man, that's just kinda sad.

You made me google Clayton's article and it's actually a pretty good overview. Expects them to win 6 or 7 at best and explains why.

There isn't a single thing you said there which couldn't be (and largely has been) applied to Baltimore fans in the '90s. The politicians crapped on the Colts well before Irsay came along. They were second-fiddle in Memorial Stadium to the Orioles. They couldn't get a stadium deal worked out for a new stadium. Heck, they couldn't even get an equal distribution of Memorial Stadium concession revenues at Colts games.
Irsay did have legitimate grievances. That doesn't excuse him being a drunken bastard who lied his ass off throughout the moving process or for taking the name, colours, and history with him, but he did have legitimate gripes with the state and city governments. The fans weren't the cause of the gripes. They were just the victims.
Not quite, the Baltimore city council matched the Indy deal dollar for dollar and guaranteed him the same money Indy did.

What's really sad is that they've only played 16 road games against winning teams in four years. Somehow, it just sounds like a lot less than what the Ravens have faced.

Yes, after the ship had sailed.
Rosenbloom had gripes with the stadium situation before he traded the team to Irsay. Irsay inherited those gripes and added his own. His drunken asshole-ness made it even worse.

SiriusNFL was at Browns camp yesterday and they pretty much predicted similar results. They only won one road game last year and this year's road schedule is very tough so it's not likely to get much better.
Interviewing fans was pretty interesting when asking them what would constitute a good year. 8-8 would make most of them happy and splitting with any of the AFCN teams would too. But the most consistent them was stop changing owners, coaches, QBs, defensive schemes, etc. Get some stability.
They also lost their kicker and punter this year so some of those close losses last year might be... close losses this year

Consistent 4th place division schedule will do that.

The Colts were still here when they matched. That he didn't accept is what prompted the eminent domain effort that caused Irsay to bolt in the night, IIRC.
